Henry Don

WELCOME SmileScribeHub

I’m Henry Don founder, health-content researcher and writer of SmileScribeHub.

I created this website with one simple goal in mind: To make it easier for everyday people to understand information about dental and oral health.

Dental health can be confusing sometimes. Medical terminology, conflicting information online and unfamiliar dental procedures can make it difficult to know where to start.

With SmileScribeHub, my goal is to provide easy to understand, useful and ethically investigated information to help readers better understand their teeth, gums, oral hygiene and normal dental care.

Why I Built SmileScribeHub

The idea for SmileScribeHub was born out of a simple observation. People tend to look online when they have questions about their oral health. However, not all health-related information found on the internet is easy to read, or presented responsibly.

I wanted to create a resource that would provide readers with clear explanations without the use of jargon, hype or impossible promises.

SmileScribeHub is committed to making complicated dental-health issues easily understandable educational content.

This is not a replacement for a dentist.

Rather, the goal is to help readers be more informed about their oral health so that they can make more informed everyday choices and know when it may be appropriate to seek professional dental care.

My Health Content Philosophy

Health information needs to be handled with care.

Therefore, I plan to do some research on SmileScribeHub articles with reliable and relevant sources rather than on unsupported claims or online speculation.

Research may include information from:

  • Dental organisations recognised
  • Government health agencies,
  • Public health organisations
  • Universities and educational facilities
  • Medical facilities
  • Research, reviewed by peers
  • Developed healthcare organisations
  • Other reliable health and dental sources

The sources are selected for their relevance and authority to the specific subject.

Organisations such as American Dental Association (ADA), World Health Organization (WHO), Mayo Clinic, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), government health organisations, universities and other recognised health organisations may be consulted as appropriate.

Importantly, I am not suggesting that every article is based on every organization above. Sources depend on your research.

Individual articles may contain references or links to the sources used in research where appropriate.

How I Review

Before publishing an article, I try to check it for:

  • Factual correctness
  • Source quality
  • Easy reading
  • Unsubstantiated or inflated assertions
  • Information that is old
  • Conflicting statements
  • Right context
  • Correct presentation of health information

I also think about whether the information might be taken as personalized medical or dental advice.

When new, reliable information is available, articles can be updated to reflect the latest evidence or advice.

Important Note Regarding Professional Review

I am not a dentist or other licensed health care provider.

At present, SmileScribeHub does not have a single dentist or medical professional who reviews each article before publication.

I think transparency is more important than the illusion of expertise when there isn't expertise.

So, I don’t put a “medically reviewed” or “dentist reviewed” tag on an article unless a qualified professional has actually reviewed that content.

About Me and My Role

I am a health-content researcher and writer at SmileScribeHub, with a passion for dental and oral-health education.

I research, organise, explain and edit general health information for readers.

“I do not diagnose dental conditions, prescribe medication, develop individual treatment regimens, or provide professional dental services.”

If a topic involves symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, medication or other matters that require individual assessment, readers should seek the advice of a qualified dentist or other appropriate health care professional.

Transparency Is Important

I think the readers have a right to know who is responsible for the information they are reading.

That’s why SmileScribeHub is committed to being transparent about:

  • Who produces the content
  • The author’s identity and credentials
  • How articles are researched
  • The sources that you have consulted
  • Limitations of general health information on the Internet
  • When content has been refreshed
  • Corrections and improvements if needed

I believe credibility comes from honest research, responsible publishing, transparency and a real commitment to helping readers not from puffed-up credentials.

Keeping Content Current

Dental and health information may change as research and professional guidance evolves.

Therefore, articles on SmileScribeHub may be reviewed/updated as appropriate.

Possible updates include:

  • Correction of factual errors
  • Statistics updates:
  • Updates old information
  • Newer sources added
  • Explaining ambiguous explanations
  • Deleting unsupported assertions
  • Enhance readability
  • Adding important context

Where applicable, articles display publication and updated dates, so that readers can determine when the information was last reviewed as part of our editorial process.

My Promise To Readers

My promise to you, the SmileScribeHub reader, is simple:

I will try to be as informative, responsible and understandable, and honest about it as I can be.

I will stay away from:

  • Overstated health claims
  • Results guaranteed
  • Content based on fear
  • Fake professional qualifications
  • Misleading medical claims
  • Personalised care presented as general information
  • Writing a professional review of an article where no review exists

The goal is to write content that is for the reader first.

Beyond the Articles

SmileScribeHub is more than just a health articles hub.

I want it to be a useful educational resource to people who want to understand their oral health and to develop better everyday habits.

If you are looking to learn how to improve your oral hygiene, trying to understand a dental term, preparing for a dental appointment or just looking for reliable general information, I hope SmileScribeHub can be a useful starting point.

I would suggest that if a question requires professional assessment, that the next step is to talk to a qualified dental or healthcare professional.
